Dr. Byron Brooks

Dr. Brooks brings over 20 years of addiction counseling experience to Welwynn. He has extensive expertise in working with high functioning executives with substance abuse issues in a variety of settings including public mental health, university counseling services, inpatient substance abuse and his private practice. He is a Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS), a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS). He is also a certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) and a Master Addiction Counselor (MAC). Additionally he has served as an adjunct faculty member for several local universities. These credentials make him uniquely qualified as the Clinical Director at Welwynn. He earned his PhD in Counseling from NC State University after completing two (2) Master’s Degrees in Substance Abuse Counseling and Rehabilitation Counseling, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. In addition, he has an EdS in Counselor Education and a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) in Employee Assistance Program Counseling. His research interests include Cognitive Development and Personality Disorders. “Welwynn’s mission is to provide the best outpatient environment in which to treat executives, professionals, and their families who suffer from addiction.
